top 10 ways to make the most of your position
It's not enough to just do your job, you have to make the most of your opportunity. As a recruiter I give a lot of advice, here are some of the best ways to make the most out of your work experience!
1. Set goals for yourself and work toward them.
In any position, having a bigger goal in mind will keep you on your toes and working toward improving the company and your career.
2. Be Reliable.
Come to work on time; even be there a little early! Only miss work for emergencies or if you've cleared it with your employers ahead of time.
3. Figure out what kind of changes/improvements you can make in the company and take action.
Show your dedication to the company by working hard to improving it. Show your initiative and your employers will definitely notice!
4. Take notes and ask questions.
Build a resource of information for yourself by taking notes. Make sure your lists and notes are well organized. And don’t forget to ask questions! especially if you’re unclear on things.
5. Ask for Feedback.
Keep the lines of communication open with your supervisors and ask for specific feedback on ways you can improve or do better.
6. Be a team player.
Show your employers and your co-workers how well you understand that working together as a team is one of the best ways to be successful.
7. Communicate issues to supervisors and co-workers.
The key to a comfortable work environment is communication. Talking openly and directly about and issue can prevent misunderstandings and makes working together a lot easier!
8. Develop your people skills.
There is nothing more valuable in the job market than good people skills. Learn how to talk to people, organize them, lead them and inspire them to dig into a project!
9. Show how you are unique from the other employees.
Go beyond the call of duty whenever you can. Offer to stay later than you're scheduled. Ask to work on special projects outside of your typical duties. If you are a standout, there might be more possibilities for advancement in the company!
10. Do your job to the best of your ability.
