To perform signalling design, analysis, modelling and simulation to specify communication based train control systems. To develop and define system design features to meet Customer requirements. To analyse and evaluate designs to verify compliance with system technical requirements. To develop and define Subsystems requirements. To develop block design, interlocking control tables, and application database for Software subsystems. To analyse and evaluate system performance and prepare associated technical contract deliverables.
The incumbent is accountable for performing the design work correctly, within cost and schedule limits, as defined in approved work packages. The work is typically defined by the Work Package Manager, then reviewed, modified and agreed with and approved by the Systems Architect and/or Manager. The System Engineer typically works with a team of engineers to define what will be designed, how it will perform and how it will be determined that it is working correctly.

Responsibilities
TECHNICAL
● Converts Customer (internal and/or external) requirements into conceptual designs and prepares associated documentation by performing operational analyses, simulations and technical trade-off studies evaluating alternative design configurations and functional features.
● Similarly creates new concepts or modifies existing concepts to fulfil customer requirements.
● Performs technical/engineering tasks to define, application databases for software subsystems. Analysis and simulations are performed as necessary to identify design feasibility & driving requirements.
● Prepares specialised signalling design skills
● Prepares and supports bids and proposals, including customer requirements compliance assessment, gap analysis, architecture design, simulation, trade-off of key features, estimation, etc.
● Presents technical design and reports to customers and/or other engineering/management groups in clear, complete, concise and non-ambiguous terms.
MANAGEMENT (LR8) Nice to have
● Supervises contractors and other systems specialists, by defining their work, coaching them on how and what to prepare, monitoring their progress and directing them on priorities.
Safety:
● Promote a safety culture where product safety is paramount
Qualifications
University degree in Computer sciences, Engineering or a closely related field.
Experience:
Minimum 5+ years relevant experience in development
Skills: of software-based System applications.
Technical/Specialized Knowledge:
Strong application (automated train control systems) domain knowledge &
Knowledge of systems engineering principles and practices.
Knowledge of modern software engineering practices, methods and tools
Knowledge of systems development life cycle.
Ability to sell/defend product to customers with differing levels of knowledge about automated systems.
Experience in using DOORS, Melody advance, etc..
Rail Signaling knowledge (desirable).
Certifications:
P. Eng license is desirable
