Our client is seeking a VP of Engineering for their office in Vancouver, BC. The incumbent will have strong experience as an Electrical Engineer who is comfortable leading and mentoring Engineers and continually to build strong business relationships.

Responsibilities:
Work with designer, engineers and drafters to provide electrical design deliverables for heavy industrial, power generation, MV and HV substation design projects
•Serve as a Key member of the management team that sets the company's strategic direction
•Develop Strategic planning for the direction and control of product development activities
•Assure the department achieves objectives and project completion within budget and time frame
•Motivate staff and provide technical direction and guidance, as well as hands-on project management, recognizing the role as that of both manager and support resource / mentor
•Produce single line, three line, protection and control drawings and equipment layouts
•Perform technical calculations
•Prepare electrical equipment or construction specifications
•Interact with vendors, clients and Owner’s engineers
•Perform technical studies such as grounding, short circuit, load flow, motor start up using computer aided programs

The qualifications required for a successful candidate include:
•Electrical Engineering degree from an accredited university with a P.Eng
•Very good experience in the application of the CEC and other major regulatory codes
•Understanding of project budget, schedule and deliverable requirements and act accordingly during the design
•Excellent oral and written English communication skills
•Ability to demonstrate effective organizational skills and leadership qualities
•A strong background and interest in electrical design, is goal oriented and seeks an environment of challenge and continuous learning
