Responsibilities
• This role requires experience with the design of electrical utility substations with operating voltages from 12kV to 500kV and demonstrated experience working with utility design solutions in an electric utility environment.
• This position is needed to help with an increasing workload in capital projects, emergency replacement and restoration work, asset management strategic OMA work programs and Owners Engineer review work.
• The position requires specialized knowledge of electrical power equipment so the ideal candidate would have some experience with the specification and installation of substation electrical equipment.
• Experience in one or both of the reactive or switchgear equipment areas is required.
• Key aspects of the reactive equipment area include:
o series capacitor stations
o STATCOMS and power transformers
o shunt reactors
• Key aspects of the switchgear equipment area include:
o HV circuit breakers up to 550kV
o HV & MV GIS
o circuit switchers
Qualifications
Must haves:
-Located in lower-mainland
-Knowledgeable with MV switchgear
-Registered Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC or with another jurisdiction and eligible for registration as such with Engineers & Geoscientists BC
-A minimum eight (8) years of experience in a relevant engineering field or equivalent.
Nice to haves:
-Knowledgeable on reactive equipment
