Responsibilities
Responsible for Wireless Spectrum Management
Conduct spectrum band compatibility studies, provide technical recommendations for configurations and filtering for spectrum coexistence for both only and collocated locations.
Coordinate Spectrum allocations/usage on borders
Manage spectrum subordination
Spectrum auction support
Spectrum refarming planning
Spectrum usage reporting for ISED
Accountable for the overall compliance of the national wireless network with Health Canadas Safety Code 6.
Establish working guidelines for staff and management.
Responsible for providing regulatory reports for ISED.
Manage outsourced Safety Code 6 contracts with outside design companies.
Establish logging and processes around mitigations put in place for Safety Code 6 site compliance.
Establish and maintain working relationships with relevant internal regulatory primes and government officials.
Assist each region as required with Safety Code 6 related queries.
Responsible for National Wireless Coverage
Ensure the accuracy of wireless coverage
Tune and maintain coverage prediction models
Provide coverage guidelines and support to the Engineering teams.
Analyze population and area covered for all technologies
Produce competitive analysis reports Teamwork
Assist in developing design guidelines, devise new approaches, conduct technical studies and improve standard engineering processes.
Collaborate with project stakeholders from other engineering disciplines and Regulatory groups (ex. Technology Development-Spectrum Strategy, Regulatory, Regional RF Engineering groups, Planning, PMO, Operations and NOC, etc)
Project management, planning and resource management Reporting
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
Work effectively with equipment and service vendors and provide executive level professional presentations of engineering results and recommendations.
Qualifications
University Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Telecommunications)
Professional Engineer designation eligible
Strong understanding and experience working with LTE and NR
Prior experience working in radio communications would be an asset.
Highly motivated individuals with superior organizational and analytical skills.
Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills.
Expert level proficiency with spreadsheets and databases.
Knowledge of electro-magnetic field theory, radio-frequency propagation, transmitter/receiver systems and RF antennas.
