Responsibilities
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Process manual cheques and electronic payments
- Enter financial informatio into SAGE
- Manage invoices
- Verify and reconcile all invoices with corresponding purchase orders for accuracy.
- Facilitate the proper signing authority for cheques and ensure their prompt distribution to recipients.
- Address internal and external inquiries professionally and with a friendly demeanor.
- Foster ongoing communication with finance staff to maintain consistency and accuracy in financial transactions, including verification and compliance checks.
- Contribute to the preparation of the annual audit review as directed by participating in various tasks.
- Establish and manage an easily accessible filing system for all documentation related to accounts payable, supplier agreements, and contracts.
- Adhere to financial directives provided by the Director of Finance and the Financial Controller.
- Monthly reconciliation of the accounts sub-ledger with the general ledger control account.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with accounting principles and practices.
- Ability to accurately code and enter invoices into the accounting system.
- Effective communication skills to liaise with internal departments and external vendors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve discrepancies.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (MS Word and MS Excel).
- Knowledge or experience with accounting software, including SAGE/ACCPAC and General Ledger
- Fluency in a First Nations Language is considered an asset.
