SUMMARY
Responsible for the leadership of the engineering team responsible for Dip/Hard coat & AR coat activities in Canada. The engineer oversees overall activities in Dip/Hard coat & AR coat including production process control (SOP), quality and continuous improvement of yield & DOT, maintenance of the machines & equipment, control & adjustment training of the staff, control safety and administration. Achieves goals by providing direction, organization, coordination, communication and employee development. Builds a cohesive team, leading by example and managing directly through lab supervisor and group leads. Develops and takes appropriate action in managing the KPIs by controlling labour, usage of materials & machines, maintaining the processes and controlling the costs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
••Builds strong partnerships with other Dip/Hard coat & AR coat departments in the labs across US & Canada.
••Champions continuous improvement and influences change efforts to help better meet changing customer needs and to achieve efficiencies.
••Implements cost-effective systems of control over CAPEX, operating expenditures, manpower and labor costs.
••Ensures team leverages their knowledge of operation and employee capabilities to optimize workflow. Adjust and create new Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and suggest improvements to management.
••Provides team with aggressive and clear performance objectives directly tied to lab performance expectations for service, quality and productivity. Creates an environment that inspires the team to take personal ownership for achieving stretch goals and performance improvement.
••Provides leadership that fosters teamwork, employee respect, empowerment, and open communication. Recommends, implements and coordinates with appropriate resources “best practices” and policies that maximize employee development, training and performance.
••Ensures activities are in place to continuously develop departmental employees and assess future management/leadership potential.
••Reviews and analyzes audits, spoilage, and key indicator reports to determine the cause of quality or production issues.
••Focus on sustainability and create/implement activities which contribute to the global targets.
••Plans and directs the employee training required to stay abreast of new product introductions.
••Responds to customer complaints and concerns as appropriate.
••May be assigned other duties, as determined by the Director of Operations.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS/ Education
•Bachelor/master’s degree in Engineering field
•Experience:
✓Minimum 10 years of experience in a custom-made-to-order manufacturing environment especially in Dip/Hard Coating & High Vacuum Coating technology.
✓Minimum 10 years of demonstrated abilities with successful implementation of manufacturing methods and processes in Dip/Hard Coating and high Vacuum Coating technology.
✓Quality Assurance / Inspection
✓Thin Film coating & Precision Optics
✓AR coating designs
✓AR equipment – processes
