The Environmental Engineer is responsible for the facilitation of environmental strategy, including ensuring compliance with all relevant CEPA, OHSA and Environmental standards.: leading and lending expertise to all environmental-related issues within the operation. Leads the company's management System, Environmental Pillar and supports all aspects of Process Safety Management.

Responsibilities
- Reports, regulatory internal auditing, compliance, and permitting, Canadian Environmental Law Regulations; thorough understanding of Waste Water systems, Risk Assessment: Element Systems - Process Safety - Assist with Process Safety programs both Ammonia and Combustible Dust
- Review the sustainability planner for the site; identifies and implements waste and cost reduction initiatives for the plant with no adverse impact on impact operations, Maintain and continuously develops the facility’s environmental program
- Keep current with all federal, provincial, regional and local environmental legal requirements and monitor developments and changes - assisting plant leadership team with making informed decision
- Target and goal setting for environmental metrics of plant: Assist operations with environmental goals, objectives and strategic plans; help identify environmental improvement opportunities and provide guidance on operational challenges
- Based on legal and internal requirements, report all significant environmental issues identified during environmental inspections, audits, and investigations immediately using the reporting platform SHE NET
- Ensures all regulatory requirements associated with the carrying out of operational duties are completed as required by the relevant regulation, certificate, or permit
- Monitors, analyses, and reports the overall environmental performance and action plans for continuous improvement, Lead decarbonization ambition for the facility
- Ensuring environmental permits, approvals and licenses are up to date, keeping up to date with relevant environmental trends, legislations and best practices
- Processes for the measurement and management of environmental impact, including resource planning/conservation and minimizing waste
- Developing and identifying cleantech projects, working with cross functional team to ensure timely delivery of project
- Oversees the wastewater systems within the facility, coordinates with third party in charge of waste treatment, manages all regulatory aspects in its entirety
- Coordinating and tracking all waste streams from the facility, manages the Hazardous Waste Information Network site and report results
- Plan, organize, direct, train and motivate a diverse workforce to optimize environmental performance, environmental reporting systems and dashboards, develop and Implement training for all Environmental aspects
- Improve team delivery of all environmental Key Performance Indicators within each product team to reduce cost within the operation.
Qualifications
- B.Sc. degree or greater in Environmental, Engineering, or related fields
- 3 years experience or more leading environmental projects on energy, water, CO2, and waste reduction is preferred, familiar with working in healthy & safety within manufacturing setting
- Experience in food and beverage industry is an asset
- Environmental professional (EP) certification or ability to become certified
- Background and expertise on and regulatory environmental compliance requirements.
- Background in Canadian Environmental Laws & Regulations
- Knowledge of Environmental Management systems: ISO 14001 or similar
- Have an operational knowledge of various Information Technology support systems.
- Working knowledge of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles and processes
- Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Working on the manufacturing floor and be exposed to mechanical operations, cleaning and caustic solutions.
- May be exposure to allergens, including but not limited to eggs, soybean oil, vinegar and lemon
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors
