Under the direction of the senior engineers and project team leaders, the Lead Automation Engineer will manage the automation portions of CAPEX projects, and work with and supervise subcontractors and Automatic Engineers on implementing a standard automation system for the Loyalist site as well as ensuring proper installation and commissioning of automation technologies as per respective project schedules.

Responsibilities
The role is responsible for:
1. Standardization
• Applying Automation Standards
• Verify on regular basis the obsolescence of automation parts in the standards and propose replacements
• Coordination and commissioning of standardized automatic / controls equipment
2. Management & Control
• Lead/support CAPEX projects for automation
• Participate in large CAPEX projects and support process part for automation
• Maintain close contact with the different sites to identify problems in controls and automation.
• Check and evaluate the line performance and support defining possible improvements
• Support new digital initiatives from an automation perspective
• Coordinate tasks of Automation Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and Company's Contractors.
• Coordinate with project managers to ensure automation/controls are incorporated within the project schedule.
3. Training
• Developing an Automation training program
• Initiate / support/lead training related projects
• Create a Skill Matrix for Automation related positions
• Integrate/train new automation engineers according to the skill matrix
• Help internal customers understand what & how automation system work
• Development/introduction of an automation system customized for the operational process
• Coordinate the commissioning of automation and control equipment in multiple projects simultaneously
• Maintain and solve PLC (programmable logic controller) issues during the project construction, as well as management of subcontractors regarding PLC/HMI's (human-machine interface)
• Planning of PI(OSIsoft) implementation during the project and planning structures in the PLC for MES (Manufacturing Execution System)
• Approve PLC Model and peripherals selection for Sub-Contractors and take part in vendor evaluation and technical communication
• Collaborate with the Process Control Dept. to add improvements to the process,
• Maintain and update relative drawings for handing them over
• Co-work with the IT responsible to set up a soft- and hardware system that matches the requirements
• Support the equipment upgrading project and optimization of improvement proposals
• Participate in Loyalist ROCE (RBM Operational Concept for Excellence) events, e.g. ACE/STOP card, 5S, and PSM, training.
Qualifications
Who we are seeking
Education:
BSc. in automation, electrical or computer engineering
Technical Skills:
• 5+ years’ experience in automation programming
• 3+ years’ experience configuring and troubleshooting PLC/DCS systems in a manufacturing/chemical processing manufacturing facility
• Minimum 2 years supervisory experience – preferred
• Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Demonstrated knowledge of Siemens software (Tia Portal, WinCC) and OSIsoft PI
• Knowledge and understanding of chemistry and industrial engineering
• Experience in change management practices and programs
• Knowledge of EHS standards, industry good practices, and legal requirements applicable to the specialty of focus
• Good written English communication
Managerial and Interpersonal Skills:
• Results oriented, while managing multiple priorities
• Capable of working independently and in a matrix structure
• Ability to organize and coach their team and to organize/coordinate project teams
• Organized and attentive to details
• Ability to identify, define and solve problems
