Our client in the Oakville area is looking to hire a Ceramic Engineer/Scientist who will be involved in developing and improving high-purity alumina and processes.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in forming and sintering ceramic bodies, calcination of ceramic powders, and various milling methods for ceramic powders. Previous experience working with alumina powder will be a significant advantage.

Responsibilities
Conduct research and development activities to optimize high purity alumina and processes.
Design and implement experiments to improve alumina forming techniques such as pressing sintering processes, and powder calcination methods along with spray drying methods.
Develop and evaluate new milling methods for alumina powder, considering factors such as particle size distribution, morphology, surface area and density of the powder.
Analyze and interpret experimental data to identify trends, correlations, and potential areas for improvement.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including the maintenance team, engineers, and production personnel, to drive product development and process optimization.
Utilize advanced characterization techniques to assess the physical and chemical properties of alumina powder.
Identify and troubleshoot technical issues in alumina manufacturing processes, proposing and implementing appropriate solutions.
Stay current with industry trends, advancements, and emerging technologies in the field of high-purity alumina.
Qualifications
Bachelor's, Master's degree in Ceramic Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of practical, hands-on experience in forming and sintering ceramic bodies, calcination of ceramic powders, and various milling methods for ceramic powders.
Strong knowledge of ceramic material properties, processing techniques, and characterization methods.
Working knowledge of characterization methods like BET, laser particle size analyzer, SEM and XRD and ability to analyze the test reports.
Proficiency in conducting experiments, analyzing data, and drawing conclusions.
Experience working with alumina powder is highly desired.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Strong communication skills to effectively present technical information and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
