Our client is seeking a methodical Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team of skilled professionals dedicated to transforming innovative concepts into reality. With a customer focused structure, the majority of this work is custom and requires design and problems solving skills. In this role, you will engage in research, analysis, and both conceptual and detailed design, developing various parts, components, and assemblies for a diverse customer base. Utilizing both traditional tools and new technologies, you will play a crucial part throughout the product development life cycle. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, focusing on innovative designs that drive growth in our client's markets.
HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING AN IMPACT
Lead the design of multidisciplinary devices.
Define requirements for new product development.
Design innovative products incorporating plastics, metals, electromechanical components, thermal packaging, optics, and more.
Apply skills in designing parts for manufacturing processes such as injection molding, stamping, casting, and extrusion.
Create designs and drawings of mechanical assemblies using SolidWorks CAD software.
Define and develop product verification methods, supporting test execution in onsite rapid prototyping and testing labs.
Collaborate with Supply Chain and Quality teams to support product procurement and address open engineering issues.
Assist in the product hand-off to manufacturing and implementation in the field.
Conduct initial and ongoing design and technical reviews.
Undertake other engineering-related activities as required.

Responsibilities
Creativity: A strong sense of creativity for product development.
Knowledge: General understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
Project Management: Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously; project management skills are an asset.
Work Ethic: Capable of working well under pressure and tight deadlines, demonstrating a high level of organizational and analytical skills.
Communication: Excellent communication skills for collaboration with customers and multidisciplinary teams.
Independence: A diligent work ethic with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Travel: Willingness to travel within Canada, the USA, and internationally as needed.
Qualifications
WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU REQUIRE
Education: BSc. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of related engineering experience.
