Responsibilities
Manage daily operations, ensuring compliance with contract terms and statements of work for the Common Collection System and post-collection providers.
Develop and implement KPIs, reporting mechanisms, and processes to improve supply chain efficiency and drive continuous improvement.
Regularly meet with Common Collection System operators, administrators, and post-collection service providers to ensure contracts are executed properly, performance objectives are met, and accurate reporting data is maintained.
Create and manage procedures for measuring the efficiency of material sorting and quality control, overseeing resulting action plans.
Ensure the entire recycling value chain operates effectively and meets all relevant regulatory standards, from collection to final disposition.
Develop and maintain an annual schedule for contract activities, ensuring both internal and external parties adhere to terms and deadlines.
Review and approve vendor payments, ensuring that vendor reporting and payment processes align with contractual agreements.
Work closely with materials marketing teams to ensure proper chain of custody for outbound materials to approved end markets.
Provide leadership to the Program Analyst, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
Identify opportunities for operational improvement through studies and pilot projects, aiming to enhance materials processing and expand market availability.
Review and present monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on service provider performance, offering insights and recommendations for improvement.
Review and present regular reports on materials marketing, identifying opportunities, challenges, and suggesting improvements.
Act as a subject-matter expert in recycling supply chain metrics, reporting, and the operational aspects of regulatory compliance in Ontario.
Conduct routine visits to primary and secondary processing facilities throughout Ontario.
Qualifications
Proven experience in waste management and recycling, with a strong understanding of recyclable materials processing.
3-5 years of experience managing recyclable materials, including performance monitoring, operational improvement, and contract administration.
A university or college degree in business administration, operations, environmental management, or a related field.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly SharePoint, Teams, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills.
Experience collaborating with senior executives, operational staff, and external vendors.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
Strong analytical skills, with a proactive approach to identifying risks and implementing program improvements.
Strong project and time management skills, capable of handling multiple overlapping projects and deadlines.
Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to develop innovative solutions.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
