Our client, a top 5 bank, is looking for a Reconciliations Specialist for a 12 month contract in Mississauga. This is hybrid role – 3 days a week and 2 days a week from home, every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday onsite. Potential for contract extension and conversion to permanent opportunity.
Pay rate: $22.70 - $27.52 / Hour
Shifts: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM 1 Hour Lunch, 2 – 15 minute breaks

Responsibilities
As a Reconciliations Specialist, your duties will include but not be limited to:
•Designing and preparing reconciliations to support the integrity of the financial statements.
•Operating an efficient / effective team to ensure timely reconciliation preparation.
•Comparing different data sets
•Identifying, investigating, escalating and supporting resolution of breaks and reconciliation issues.
•Collaborating with various stakeholders across the bank.
•Being responsible for the preparation of reconciliations and attestations per prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while applying solid knowledge of the operations, its procedures and systems to the reconciliations process
•Ensure true breaks are identified, investigated / reported and items that represent a potential loss are escalated immediately
•Supporting all questions pertaining to in house reconciliations and support investigations for outages for outsourced reconciliations
•Using in-house and online tools to do first level investigate on outages in order to speed up resolution
•Displaying good judgment and decision-making skills in dealing with breaks and reporting
•Working with various stakeholders relating to various reconciliation functions
•Doing peer reviews on other reconciliations prepared by the team
•Leading the charge on designing new reconciliations and amending existing reconciliations where needed
•Using new and existing tools to automate and recommend solutions for data ingestion, analytics and visualization to create efficiencies in the reconciliation preparation process to reduce lead time
•Demonstrating flexibility to assume project work outside of the general reconciliation process
•Creating monthly and ad hoc statistic reporting
•Posting journal entries where necessary
Qualifications
•Finance degree
•5+ years of experience in the finance industry, working with reconciliations
•Willingness to collaborate and build strong relationships across business functions
•Advanced working knowledge of Excel / Microsoft Office suite of products
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to collaborate and build strong relationships with multiple stakeholders
Nice-to-have
•Data visualization experience (preference in Tableau and/or Power BI)
•Experience navigating datasets using Structured Query Language (SQL) for analytical purposes or experience with programming languages
•Knowledge of Insurance products / operations, familiar with insurance accounting, together with willingness and interest to develop that knowledge
•MBA, CPA, CFA Designation
