We are currently recruiting for a Payroll Specialist in the Burlington area. This role is a 6-month contract with the possibility of extension or permanent placement. As a key member of the Payroll team, the Payroll Specialist will use subject matter expertise to support complete, timely, and accurate execution of payroll systems (including Payroll, Finance, and Time & Labour modules), processes, projects, tools, and analytic support on key objectives to effectively and efficiently process pay for business partners. Responsibilities
- Processes the full cycle of biweekly payrolls in a timely manner
- Ensuring accuracy and maintenance of all payroll data records
- Ensuring maintenance of an effective auditable system of payroll accounting including time and labor, vacation pay, authorized adjustments, correction, retro pay increases, bonus payments, mat leave payments, severance processing, etc.
- Ensure proper documentation and authorizations are received
- Analyzes and responds to complex issues requiring comprehensive knowledge of payroll policies and procedures
- Support HR Team with information on Payroll processes
- Respond to and resolve employee inquiries
Qualifications
- 3-4 years of Payroll experience including payroll-based accounting knowledge
- Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and maintain accuracy
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and MS Office
- Strong knowledge of standard legislation including ESA, Revenue Canada, and Revenue Quebec guidelines and Employment Insurance
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills
- Solid understanding of business processes and the ability to analyze and seek out continuous
