We are seeking a Quality Assurance Supervisor who will be responsible for direct supervision and daily support to the various Quality Assurance Technicians. Assists the QA Manager/BRC Alternate and/or HACCP/BRC with the implementation and enforcement of food safety and quality programs to all departments. Ensures adherence to required food safety laws, regulations, and company/customer policies and procedures. Has the authority to suspend operations when serious food safety and quality risks are identified
This is a 6-months contract that can be extended or become a permanent role.

Responsibilities
•Assists in the implementation, review, maintenance and validation of the HACCP and BRC Systems (GMPs, Prerequisite Programs, Policies, SOPs, etc.)
•Direct supervision of QA Technicians and indirect supervision all departments
•Provides food safety and quality direction to Production, R&D, Purchasing, Shipping & Receiving, Maintenance, Planning and Sanitation
•Advises department managers and supervisors of non-compliances/deviations
•Assists the HACCP/BRC and QA Manager with site audits and takes appropriate action to ensure the integrity of HACCP and BRC Systems
•Ensures that regulatory compliance with CFIA, BRC and Customer requirements are meet and maintained
•Monitors and verifies food safety programs and practices and overall SOP compliance within the facility
•Assists with GMP and Technical training of personnel on HACCP/BRC functions
•Investigates HACCP, and BRC noncompliance and deviations through root cause and risk analysis, and the application of corrective and preventative actions
•Assists the QA Manager with complaint investigations, root cause analysis’s and the application of corrective and preventative actions
•Ensures supplier scorecards and non-conformity communications are issued, tracked, trended and managed
•Identifies trends related to food safety (foreign material, Holds, deviations, etc.) and communicates findings to management
•Ensures appropriate product holds, and timely dispositions
•Provides technical documentation for testing of products and raw materials
•Responsible for schedule review and allergen management
•Responsible for maintaining the verification schedule and ensuring verification compliance including record reviews, on-site observations, interviews, etc.
•Assists with the creation and revision of product specifications to ensure food safety and quality
•Develops and maintains incoming specifications and online profiling spreadsheets to track and trend quality parameters
•Other duties as assigned

•Excellent communication, interpersonal and administrative leadership skills
•Proven ability to supervise, provide support and coach
•Strong verbal and written literacy
•Proven ability to work effectively as a team member
•Strong analytical, problem-solving abilities
•Highly detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
•Able to prioritize multiple obligations, and manage time effectively
•Excellent mathematical skills
•Excellent work ethic and attendance
•Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office systems
•Adaptable to change, handles pressure well, adjusts plans to meet changing demands
•Accepts accountability, stays focused and calm under pressure
•Meets attendance/punctuality requirements
•Makes decisions systematically, under pressure and can make difficult/unpopular choices
Qualifications
•A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role
•Working knowledge of HACCP and GFSI systems and applicable regulatory agencies
•Proven leader and team motivator with Leadership skills
•Thorough understanding of statistical process controls, HACCP, BRC, MMOP
•Knowledge of customer complaint investigation and resolution process
•In depth knowledge of local, provincial and federal GMP requirements pertaining to food manufacturing
•Proficient with MS Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required as well as with label system software
