Responsibilities
1) Network Design and Implementation:
•Works with the manager, operations staff, and service providers to analyze needs and develop short-term and long-term plans for network growth and renewal; producing an annual report with technical evaluations and budget estimates.
•Works with service providers to develop network designs that optimize performance and capacity as defined by the planning process.
•Responsible for IT infrastructure inventory records and infrastructure diagrams.
•Produces monthly infrastructure status report.
•A key contributor in the preparation and evaluation of RFIs and RFPs.
•Oversees equipment replacement cycles for complex network devices (approximately 1500 core, security, wired network devices, wireless devices, wiring, and servers), acting as liaison with operations staff, functional units, contractors and service providers, all to industry standard specifications.
2) Network Monitoring and Support
•Works with the manager, operations staff, and service providers to define and document infrastructure monitoring requirements (Key Performance Indicators/KPIs).
•Oversees infrastructure monitoring to ensure KPIs are being met.
•Responsible for building and maintaining systems for monitoring performance.
•Coordinate diagnosis and resolution of system failures across all infrastructure, coordinating an appropriate response according to service level standards.
•Produces a monthly incidents report.
•Is regularly required to replace and configure network equipment, often under extreme pressure during a system failure.
•Working outside of regular working hours is often required.
3) Security Management
•Is a key member and contributor to cybersecurity planning group; keeping the members informed of current and rising threats and trends.
•Work with the manager, operations staff, and service providers to define and document security baseline measures (KPIs) and security policies.
•Research, evaluate and recommend technologies for protecting the campus from cybersecurity threats.
•Contribute to building and maintaining Cybersecurity incident response plan.
•Coordinate implementation of systems and services to meet cybersecurity strategy, through the entire range of technologies, including personal devices (mobile and desktop), servers, wired networking, wireless networking, security monitoring, and external services.
•Responsible for physical security and maintenance of all network locations (approximately 100).
•Configure and manage the security systems for the entire network and Datacentre.
•Is a member of Technology Incident Response Team, providing critical input and implementing configuration changes to the network in response to threats.
4) : Supervision of network technicians
•Assign work and set priorities for Network Technicians or other technical staff.
•Ensures that work is recorded in the ticketing system, and that work assignments are completed in a timely and effective manner.
•As technical subject matter expert, oversees the education of Network Technicians on infrastructure topology and configuration.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 Years of experience
EXCELLENT communication skills
Network management certification such as CCNA or Network+
Have a Security+, designation or working towards this or other designations such as CISSP (highest level)
demonstrated initiative together with excellent planning, communication and organizational skills
strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to problem solving are required
excellent grasp of voice and data network technologies as well as all areas of cybersecurity.
