The Senior Piping Engineer will lead piping stress analysis project teams to create world class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on a variety of projects including power, process, chemicals. Responsibilities
1) Senior piping stress analysis engineer will lead the stress analysis work from the conceptual phase through design completion for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers.
2) Prepare piping data sheets for Special items like Spring, Strut etc.,
3) Review equipment vendor drawings; data interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, detailers, designers.
4) Support piping leads for effective management of change orders.
5) Applies expert knowledge of commonly used piping concepts, practices, industry codes, specifications, and procedures within the piping engineering services industry.
6) Applies knowledge and experience to complex projects, find non-standard design solutions.
7) Perform stress analysis of piping systems based on project schedule.
8) Identify stress critical systems for the project using standard stress analysis software like CAESARII.
9) Perform Nozzle load, Nozzle leakage calculations.
10) Identify types of pipes supports, support locations required on piping systems.
11) Review of isometrics to verify stress analysis calculations for the piping design and for piping fabrication.
12) Support level of efforts required for stress analysis during basic design, FEED, and execution phase of the project.
13) Provide inputs to civil for pipe loads.
14) Quality review of stress analysis systems.
15) Quality review of the construction administration including coordination with field personnel to resolve design related installation issues, calculations, field inspections and testing of piping systems when needed.
16) Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.
17) Responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction goals and expectations are met.
18) Report project performance.
19) Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the piping engineering practice. Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.
20) Responsible for QA/QC process adherence.
21) Responsible for effective communication with other engineering disciplines.
22) Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies.
23) Responsible for coordinating with High Value Engineering Centers
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.
Or Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering a plus.
10 to 15 years of piping engineering experience in the field of Stress Analysis. EPC project experience preferred.
Professional Engineering License (P.Eng. Or PE)
Expert knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures. Strong knowledge of piping equipment design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE). Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
Use of Piping Stress analysis software’s like CAESAR II, Nozzle Leak Calcs
Experience to review SmartPlant 3D and Navisworks software to review piping systems
Experience with Pipe Load calculations for pipe supports.
Experience with Material Requisition will be added advantage.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members. Ability to help execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.
Experience with modules will be an added advantage.
Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
