•A minimum of five years recent and related experience working in a complex, heterogeneous computing environment
•Proven experience with complex, diverse, structured research computing intake and support in an academic environment is considered a strong asset

•Experience creating and maintaining documentations such as Infrastructure Diagram, Technical Specification Document, Operational Support Document, Project Handover Document


Advantages
- Although the work will be done primarily ON-SITE at their downtown Toronto location initially, the manager is open to discussing more remote work once the consultants have settled in and are productive

Responsibilities
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. RHCSA, RHCA, RHCSHAC, CISSP, PMP, TOGAF, ITIL or related certifications, ITSM implementation are assets

Qualifications
•Creating and maintaining virtual server installations
•Analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex system, network, and server-related problems
•Investigating network and storage service enhancements and performance improvements
•Documenting the relevant systems and networks to ensure accurate detailing and to reflect the current state of hardware/software architecture
•Measuring and monitoring the network proactively to ensure stability, reliability and security
•Implementing procedures to generate notification of network and system failures on a 24 x 7 basis
•Providing support for staff and faculty using a variety of hardware and software
•Delivering a functional and secure infrastructure
•Implementing daily support, administration, and maintenance of critical applications
•Supporting application development cycle activities for the Applications & Development and Client Services teams
•Installing software, performing OS updates, advising on software and hardware refresh cycle, and assisting in supporting and maintaining Faculty of Arts and Science networks
•Fulfilling infrastructure needs for researchers and faculty staff with their teaching needs
•Handling high priority and complex issues, restoring system outages with urgency
•Performing root cause analysis and implementing permanent fix
•Serve as a tier 2 technical resource to other IT professionals on systems related issues, and assumes responsibility for technical infrastructure activities and/or projects by providing technical leadership, and support to junior technical staff


Summary
- 5 + years development experience

- Experience in web programming and scripting, including PHP, JSON, AJAX, XML, HTML, CSS , and JavaScript.

- Experience in integrating databases with enterprise-grade Web technologies

- Highly proficient with Web technologies and servers. (e.g., Apache, Tomcat, etc.).

- Experience in Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA),

- Strong database back-end skills, including design, implementation, and testing of RDBMS, OLTP, and OLAP databases, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, and MySQL.

Experience with agile development methodologies including Kanban and Scrum

· Proven strong understanding of Git version control as systems and process.
