Responsibilities
• Conducting technical assessments and generating reports on a range of topics related to the natural environment
• Acquiring permits and authorizations, and presenting recommendations for optimal practices, mitigation measures, and compensation strategies.
• Acquiring projects through the preparation of proposals and active involvement in business development initiatives
• Overseeing project management and coordination tasks to ensure timely and budget-compliant project delivery
• Coordinating field operations and data analysis to support baseline studies, environmental impact assessments, Species at Risk permitting and mitigation plans, natural environment monitoring, and related scopes of work
• Building connections with clients, regulatory bodies, stakeholders, and fellow consultants
• Performing other responsibilities as designated.
Qualifications
• University degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Ecology, or a related field is preferred; however, strong candidates with a relevant technical diploma and substantial work experience will be considered
• 6 years of consultancy experience
• Demonstrated expertise in the terrestrial field (including vegetation, wetlands, wildlife, Species at Risk, and ecological enhancement/restoration)
• Well versed in using pertinent methods such as standardized field surveys for wildlife or vegetation, fish sampling, and taxonomic identification
•A track record of proficient technical report writing and the ability to provide editorial and technical review
• Comprehensive knowledge of municipal, provincial, and federal policies and legislation in Southern Ontario pertaining to the natural environment, land development, and planning
• Proven ability to assess policy conformity for specific development proposals and secure related permits/approvals.
• Experience conducting impact assessment studies on natural heritage and formulating mitigation, monitoring, and compensation plans
