Frequently Asked Questions About Working with Randstad Canada

So you're considering working with Randstad Canada. You've completed a profile and are ready to get started with your job hunt. What does working with a recruitment agency mean? Do you have to pay any fees? Here's the answers to all the most common questions our recruiters get asked.

How much does it cost to register with Randstad?

Job seekers are the reason we are here! There is absolutely no charge for you to use our recruitment services. We are paid by the employers who use Randstad to recruit temporary and permanent team members.

Do I have to accept a position proposed to me by my consultant?

Not at all. Your Randstad consultant wants you to take a job that is in line with your capabilities, your experience, and your aspirations. We do not want you to accept a position that does not meet your expectations.

If you do not think you will be able to finish an assignment, or if you are simply not interested in the job proposed by your consultant, we encourage you to explain to the consultant why the job is not the right fit. Out goal is to find you a job that excites you, that you're passionate about!

Once I have completed a temporary assignment, will my recruitment consultant offer me other jobs?

Absolutely! If your first job assignment was a positive experience for you and your employer, your recruitment consultant will be more than happy to help you find other job opportunities. Many job seekers find they are able to gain a lot of work experience this way.

Does working on temporary assignments devalue my résumé?

Not at all! Temporary job assignments are an ideal way to gain experience at different organizations and learn new skills, which can only enhance your résumé. Accepting temporary assignments also demonstrates that you really do want to work and are determined to seize opportunities. Some job seekers also find that temporary work assignments allow them to experience a diverse range of workplaces, ensuring they're never bored.

Why should I accept temporary assignments?

While not yet widespread in Canada, working in a temporary capacity has many advantages. It allows you to:

  • Gain experience in different fields or jobs
  • Discover jobs and industries that you like working in
  • Avoid getting into a rut, because you can change assignments and work environments every two, four, six or twelve months
  • Improve your work/life balance
  • Diversify your work experiences
  • Find summer employment
  • Work for a set period of time to save money for a project, travel or other special experience
