Are you a designated accountant with previous experience using both IFRS and US GAAP? Do you have experience managing a G/L in a large corporate setting, preferably in the Oil, Gas, and Utilities industry? Are you looking for your next opportunity to further develop your skills? If so, we have an excellent opportunity for you!

We are currently looking for an Accountant to support our client, a leading Canadian Oil and Gas firm, in their Calgary office. In this role you will work full time hours on a 10 month assignment, and earn a competitive pay rate within the industry. As an Accountant your main responsibility will be to prepare and maintain one business's General Ledgers. Daily responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

• Maintain GL for Liquids legal entities by preparing monthly recurring entries, account analysis and account reconciliations. Ensures that all relevant financial information is entered into the G/L on a timely basis and reflects contractual terms.
• Drives Day 1 to Day 6 month end activities, ensuring completion of specific accountabilities and deliverables associated with each day.
• Maintain knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Liaise with field staff to ensure appropriate accruals are recorded on a monthly basis. Provide direction and guidance to ensure appropriate accounting policies are followed.
• Prepare/assist with handling ad hoc analyses of information requests related to LP entities.
• Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX 404) internal control documentation and coordination with external auditors, as it relates to this position. Responsible for understanding key controls design & execution and recommending changes to controls if processes changes.
• Provide backup support for other assets within Liquids Accounting team.
• Responsible for preparation and execution of personal development plan.
• Other job duties as required to support the Liquids Accounting team.

Financial Reporting:
• Preparation of entity working papers to support Financial Performance Report pages plus quarterly external reporting within specific deadlines.
• Ensure financial reports are in line with contractual agreements and that proper information is captured to aid management in decision making (i.e. variance analysis to budget and prior year)
• Use and upkeep of financial models based on agreements, inputs from other departments, communications with all departments, and direction of upper management.
• Review and summarize new revenue agreements, build financial models to support the terms of the new agreements, and ensure that all reporting is in line with US GAAP.
• Preparation of financial statements.

• Post-Secondary education in Accounting.
• Holds a Professional Accounting Designation.
• A minimum of 4-6 years of progressively responsible experience in an accounting environment.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills complemented by excellent attention to detail.
• Works well within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
• Strong organizational and computer skills.

• Ability to interpret and translate conceptual agreements/ideas into practice and prepare sensitivity analysis of the earnings impact as well as identify other significant financial implications
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP & Internal Control Principles.
• Ability to apply accounting, auditing, tax and regulatory standards and principles.
