We are currently looking for an Accounting Analyst (Gas Cost Advisor) to support our client, a leading Canadian Gad Distribution company, in their North York office. In this role you will work full time hours on a 12 month assignment (with strong likelihood for extension), and earn a pay rate competitive within the industry. As an Accounting Analyst (Gas Cost Advisor) you will be responsible to:

• Complete and/or assist with the monthly gas cost financial reports including creation of volumetric and costing input files and upload into the Encore application.
• Prepare and/or assist with the annual Gas Cost Budget
• Prepare analysis of the PGVA balances
• Provide support for Regulatory proceedings including IR’s
• Assist with maintaining, updating and documenting internal control policies and procedures within the Finance Department
• Ensure that proper SOX documentation is maintained and work closely with both internal and external auditors to confirm that audit requirements are met and SOX compliance is achieved
• Identify accounting and business issues in a timely manner and make valuable recommendations to the Supervisor, Cost of Gas on effective solutions, and opportunities for improvement, through working with the Gas Supply, external reporting, and Regulatory teams
• Provide Subject Matter Expert advice for project work such as the Cost of Gas initiative and ERP
• Support the Gas Accounting team as the backup person for the other Advisor, Gas Cost Advisors on the team
• Other tasks/projects as assigned

• Post-secondary education, preferably in finance/business
• Minimum 3-4 years financial/accounting experience or equivalent
• Strong Excel skills
• Sound analytical and problem solving ability
• Ability to work under tight deadlines
• Ability to organize work, set priorities and meet deadlines
• A strong team player with excellent communication skills
• Keen attention to detail and accuracy
• Superior computer skills
• Able to work with minimal supervision

• University degree in Accounting/Finance would be preferred
• Accounting designation or equivalent experience
• Oracle/SAP knowledge and experience
• Experience with Python or other BI systems would be an asset
