Accounting and Payroll Clerk in Burlington

Are you a Jack or Jill of all trades? Are you experience within Accounting, Administration, and Payroll and looking for a varied and challenging role? Would you like to work within a team-driven, and the driven environment? Then we have the perfect opportunity for you.

We are looking for a talented and experienced Accounting and Payroll Clerk to join a small Steel company that specializes in welding and construction. This position includes completing full cycle accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and project-based accounting. The successful candidate will be working within a small team environment.

The ideal candidate will have a throughout understanding of general accounting procedures, be able to understand the ‘big picture’ and handle accounts from cradle to grave. Experience working within an Accounting role that is project-based is an asset. Personalities traits that would make you successful in the role are being detail-oriented, team-oriented and have a thick skin when communicating with internal and external stakeholders within the construction industry.

Job Duties

- Full Cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Maintaining and processing of bi-weekly payroll and government remittances
- AP: Sorting, coding and matching invoices, posting the transaction to journals and GL, reconciling accounts
- AR: identifying and collecting on delinquent accounts, prepare ageing report, posting payments to accounts
- Tracking and reporting on expenses
- Weekly, monthly and quarterly reports for AP, AR, and expenses
- Assist with administrative tasks for human resources, purchasing, quotations, and equipment rentals as needed
- Preparing financial reports
- All administrative duties

Qualifications
- Post-secondary education within Accounting, Finance, or equivalent working experience
- Working knowledge of Simply Accounting/ Sage is an asset
- Must feel comfortable working alone / with a small team
- Experience with project-based accounting is an asset
- Experience with accounting software (ex. QuickBooks, Sage)
- Excellent attention to detail and organization skills
- Great communication skills- written and verbal
