One of our good clients in the region of Montreal is looking for an Accountant Assistant to join their finance and accounting team. Reporting to the Controller, the incumbent is responsible for the accounts payable cycle and all activities related to vendor accounts, as well as backup for payroll processing.

Responsibilities
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
- Validate and verify supplier invoices;
- Reconcile supplier invoices with purchase orders and bids;
- Match supplier invoices to delivery orders prior to entry into the system and analyze discrepancies if any;
- Enter data into the accounting system while ensuring proper accounting posting;
- Prepare, sign and mail cheques to suppliers;
- Process direct payment on the banking platform for recurring services;
- Verify and reconcile supplier statements;
- Reconcile the general ledger with the auxiliaries on a monthly basis;
- Prepare follow-up files for prepaid expenses, fixed assets, professional fees and monthly accruals;
- Reconcile credit card statements;
- Reconcile petty cash;
- Perform monthly rebilling and follow-up;
- Process monthly and quarterly installment payments and sales taxes;
- Maintain preventive maintenance contracts and capital plan;
- Maintain the shareholders' personal book;
- Manage the receipt and dispatch of mail;
- Prepare various month-end reports;
- Sort, scan and file documents;
- All other related tasks as requested by his/her immediate supervisor;
- Process payroll with the Nethris software as needed when the person in charge is unavailable
Qualifications
- College diploma (DEC) in accounting or equivalent experience
- 1 year experience in a similar position
- 1 year experience in payroll, an asset
- Knowledge of Nethris software, an asset
- Good command of Microsoft Office (mainly Excel)
- Good understanding of accounts payable processes
- Fluency in French (oral and written)
- Functional knowledge of English (oral and written)
