Job Duties
Payroll (30%)
•Prepare and administer payroll for about 100 salaried and hourly employees located in Ontario, while auditing payroll processing reports for accuracy.
•Ensure that all salaries are paid accurately and in a timely fashion to all company employees.
•Prepare monthly journal entries and forms, such as records of employment, year-end reports, T4’s, T2200’s etc.
•Issue ad hoc, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
•Take and handle all inquiries arising from questions about payroll.
•Implement salary increases, bonuses, commissions, and so on in accordance with the instructions given.
•Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirements.
•Handle all remittances (WSIB, source deductions, etc.).
•Monitor and maintain vacation and attendance records.
•Collaborate with the HR Director to ensure pay and personnel records are accurate and up to date.
•Other duties as assigned by HR Director.
•Dotted line reporting to Sr. Accountant for accounts payable duties.
Accounts Payable (70%)
•Maintain general A/P processing performance levels.
•Prepare and fill out payments request
•Audits purchase requests for materials, supplies, equipment, and other collateral; verify that orders are charged to the proper accounts.
•Review invoices to the company for potential errors and/or discrepancies.
•Investigate and resolve supplier invoice discrepancies or misapplied cash transactions.
•Review all credit balances, refunds, and adjustments, and apply adjustments and/or corrections to corporate billing records.
•Balance daily A/P batches; prepare and distribute payment reports
•Ensure the strict confidentiality and privacy of financial records as they relate to the organization and its business partners.
•Investigate payment problems while following A/P policies and procedures.
Qualifications
College degree with minimum 2 years exp in payroll functions
Strong excel skills
Experience with a payroll platform such as ADP or Ceridian ( an asset )
Solid experience with an ERP ( Sage, Quickbooks, NetSuite, Dynamics) is a must
