Randstad is partnered with a well established educational institution located in Hamilton, looking to hire an Accounts Payable specialist:

JOB SUMMARY:

The Accounts Payable Clerk reports to the Manager, Accounting Services and is the primary contact responsible for effective control of Accounts Payable transactions for assigned vendors within an integrated information system. Requires strong accounting skills, close attention to detail, high level of data entry accuracy, strong Microsoft excel skills, and excellent communication skills.


The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to the following:

Obtains approvals for vendor invoices, matches invoices to packing slips and purchase orders to support payment of vendor invoices
Ensures payment of invoices processed within 10 days of receipt
Ensures applicable discounts are taken and interest charges avoided on all invoices processed
Investigates queries from vendors and college employees on status of receipt of goods, payment of invoices and discrepancies
Processes invoices paid by Automatic Withdrawal, VISA, cheque and EFT
Prepares monthly journals arising from invoice data entry errors, HST adjustments for construction invoices on hold and prepaid invoices
Reconciles vendor statements to the institutions Accounts Payable records and follows up on discrepancies
Responsible for ensuring all outstanding invoices associated with assigned vendors are accrued for at yearend
Provides explanations for year over year variances on assigned Accounts Payable accrual accounts
Accepts and logs College-wide deposits for daily Brinks pickup

Qualifications
A minimum two (2) year Accounting Diploma
A minimum three (2-3) years of practical experience doing the following:
Working with an integrated financial information system utilizing the general ledger, purchasing and accounts payable modules.
Working with accounts payable practices and procedures
Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively inter-culturally with diverse groups of students, employees and the community.
