The unit requires the services of a resource to support it in the design of telecommunications infrastructure. The projects targeted by this service mandate will mainly consist of carrying out infrastructure engineering for the CREA program (WAN sustainability component) more specifically for the T180103 project as well as certain projects in the portfolio under the responsibility of the unit. .
Please note that the last project ends in 2023, but our needs are limited to June 2021 for this type of resource.

List of tasks to be carried out within the framework of the projects:
A large part of the tasks carried out by the designers are carried out within the framework of projects. The main tasks of the designer are:
• Perform site surveys and inspections (notes, photos, details) and write or validate associated reports;
• Write the technical part of the mandates for the professional services required within the framework of the project and validate the engineering deliverables produced by the firms;
• Perform technical calculations, diagrams and details;
• Carry out complete and detailed engineering plans and specifications;
• Define the components and record the list of equipment and the order slips for the required equipment;
• Provide technical support during the completion of works and commissioning and participate in the development of deployment plans;
• Update inventory systems and overall diagrams of the telecommunications network.
Outside the project framework, designers may also be called upon to work on the following tasks:
• Participate in the drafting of technical standards and guides for the implementation of best practices within the company;
• Offer technical and operational support in the event of network outages;
• Orient operating practices to guarantee continuity of services;
• Technically support network planning and architecture activities.
In order to comply with the laws and regulations surrounding the practice of engineering in Quebec, the designer engineer will also, in addition to the tasks mentioned above, be responsible when involved:
• Check design activities;
• Sign and seal plans, specifications, technical report, technical calculation or any other technical support document (such as guides, specifications, notices or standards) that he produces or writes, alone or in collaboration, within the framework of projects.

Requirements and qualifications:
a) General
All the resources that will be in service must demonstrate a mastery of the following behavioral skills:

• Cognitive skills;
• Time and priority management.

All resources must meet the following minimum requirements:
• Be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (applicable to engineering positions only);
• Have a valid driver's license in Quebec;
• Be able to travel throughout the territory of the province of Quebec, by the various means of transport (air and land) when required (eg site visit, meeting, training);
• Have knowledge of the technical, economic, environmental and socio-political issues of the company's projects;
• Have demonstrated the ability to write structured reports and recommendations;
• Have a knowledge of the French language appropriate to the function;
• Have good experience in telecommunications networks;
• Mandatory = Possess the card of the Joint Association for Occupational Health and Safety in the construction sector (ASP construction card)
Please note that for each position to be filled, the number of years of experience required will be determined based on needs according to the AFG classification (levels).

Finally, the telecommunications network is deployed in a standardized industrial environment of high voltage and power electronics. Knowledge of state-of-the-art commercial telecommunications equipment designed for the high voltage industrial environment is an asset.
b) Special requirements for engineers / technicians in design, planning and architecture

Resources should:
• Have good experience in telecommunications network planning and design;
• Have industry certification for specialties (an asset).
