The Asset Owner Paper Mill Operations– Paper Mill supports the paper mill department by providing strategic leadership and coaching to achieve results in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Engagement, and Performance. They will provide daily action plans to reach and exceed OEE targets, as well as long-term development plans for the continued growth of our employees and paper machine.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or minimum 5 years of paper operating experience
- 2+ years of process analysis/optimization/engineering experience within a manufacturing plant, preferably in a paper mill
- Previous experience as a people leader of teams or direct reports
- Demonstrated ability with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel to sort and analyze data, create tables/graphs, Word to create documents and procedures, and Outlook for email correspondence. Microsoft Project experience is considered an asset.
Position overview:
Responsible for the performance and leadership of the Cascades Mississauga Paper Machine which includes:
Safety:
- Ensures that the asset is safe to operate with respect to guarding, lockouts, systems, and processes
- Actively participates in the Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings
- Leads our safety culture through safety interactions, risk assessments, and continuous improvement
Quality:
- Works with Production Supervisor and Quality department to ensure product quality specifications are met
- Reviews Quality performance daily to drive improvement and corrective actions
Delivery:
- Responsible for the Daily Rhythm & Schedule (DRS), prioritizing actions plans for the next 24 hours
- Responsible for Clean, Inspect, Lubricate (CIL), defining standards to ensure equipment is in proper working order. Works with our Maintenance and Reliability teams to align on priorities to minimize downtime.
Engagement:
- Works with the Production Supervisor to train and coach employees on standard work and create a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
- Supports the other members of the LCT in the implementation and continuous improvement of their respective Daily Management Systems (DMS) elements
Performance:
- Develops the strategies and tactics to achieve daily/monthly/year-to-year OEE targets
- Actively manages cost control of paper machine consumables such as chemicals, clothing, and doctor blades, and works with suppliers on cost reduction initiatives
