ROLE: Assistant Financial Controller
TYPE: Permanent
EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Experienced
LOCATION: South Edmonton, AB

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this position provides support in all aspects of accounting and administration within the Finance and Administration department. Ensure the integrity of data and information collected and reported through the ERP including but not limited to the financial statements, general ledger, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, sales, rental and all major components of the company's ERP. Provide monthly and annual financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, actual to budget and prior year comparatives. Provide variance analysis as required, collect and provide information for audit inquiries and provide assistance to auditors.

This role does also require occasional backup relief for payroll and reception.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions of the Assistant Financial Controller role:

- Review and ensure that monthly and annual remittances to federal and provincial government agencies are accurate and timely
- Oversee preparation of year end payroll reporting and related government remittances are complete, accurate and timely.
- Ensure timelines of monthly and annual financial statements.
- Prepare year end working papers and coordinate with Auditors
- Provide accounting support to Staff
- Provide IT back up and support as related to finance and accounting functions
- Liaison with accounting software vendors, contract vendors and system administrator
- Financial reporting
-Ensure accurate and complete information is captured and utilized in the ERP and CRM systems
- Understand and comply with the safety program and help promote a safe work environment

Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials:

- Professional Accounting Designation (CA, CMA, CGA, CPA) is preferred.
- 3+ years experience in the energy sector,engineering, manufacturing or construction industries
- Solid business acumen
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with all stakeholders. Includes the ability to explain complex accounting and reporting issues to non-finance coworkers.
- Must possess a team orientated approach
- Excellent judgment and proven problem-solving skills
- Previous experience using MS Dynamics GP
