This is an Assistant Project Engineer opportunity with the largest power distribution company located in British Columbia. This is a one year, full time contract located in Burnaby, next to a sky train station. Given Canada’s the second largest producer of hydroelectricity, this position will allow you diversity and growth in your career within the utility industry. The successful candidate will be work on the generation side of major projects tailored to dam safety.

As the Assistant Project Engineer, you will assist the team in different engineering disciplines such as mechanical, civil, and/ or electrical. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing supervised engineering tasks for assignments and using standard procedures and techniques to support projects and/or operation safely, with quality, within the budget, and most importantly on time. As the assistant project engineer you will also contribute to the development of safe engineering solutions, assist with specific aspects of more complex engineering activities adhering to prescribed analysis, perform periodic tasks independently which could include on-site construction quality control.

The ideal candidate for the Assistant Project Engineer position should have a minimum two (2) years of experience in a relevant engineering field or equivalent, must be a university graduate in applied science or engineering, be a registered Engineer-in-Training or Geoscientist-in-Training with Engineers& Geoscientists BC or another jurisdiction and/ or eligible for registration as such with Engineers & Geoscientists BC. The successful candidate will also have familiarity with CAD systems and drawing standards possess the ability to use standard industry design/ analysis software, will be familiar in the electrical utility field, and will have power industry experience.
