    Your challenge!

    Greenpac Mill LLC seeks an Automation Engineer at our plant in Niagara Falls, New York. Regular working hours from 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.

    Individual responsibilities

    Analyze end-user requirements, and document and design solutions to define (automation) system requirements in line with business goals.
    Analyze effectiveness of (automation) systems and develop strategies to improve overall output.
    Design P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) designs, E&I (Electrical and Instrumentation) drawings, control system architecture, and communications on Profinet, Ethernet I/P (Ethernet Industrial Protocol), Profibus PA (Process Automation), engineering, application development, and start-up support.
    Program (automation) control loops and sequences with the use of the following tools: SIMATIC PCS7 V8.0 Update 1, SIPAPER Block Library, SIMATIC Step 7 V5.4, and WinCC Professional V7.0 SP3.
    Update and extend the industrial communication Profibus DP & PA (Decentralized Peripherals and Process Automation) networks.
    Set parameters on the new smart instrumentation with the use of the following tool: SIMATIC Process Device Manager V8.0.2.
    Identify, limit, and improve PLC’s (Programmable Logic Controller) performance while adding new loops to the process.
    Monitor the (automation) systems during shutdown and maintenance activities.
    Analyze performance and security issues on existing computer systems and assist in the development and implementation of troubleshooting new and existing systems.
    Provide guidance to end users for new modified (automation) systems.
    Responsible for the production line’s troubleshooting in Siemens PCS7/Step 7 and Profibus.
    Perform as the key contact for production line availability and keep up to date on the appropriate SAP system statuses and production reports.
    Observe the machine in the field, and in the event of a malfunction or abnormality in the machine, perform corrective actions or create notifications/work orders for shut down planning.
    Meet regularly with operators to collect comments or observations and work closely in cooperation with the asset owners to ensure production and machine availability.
    Perform configuration changes in cooperation with maintenance leaders, and report what has been done.
    5% domestic travel required.

    Experiences and strengths

    •    Must have a bachelor’s degree in automation engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, systems engineering, or a closely related field of study, as well as 5 years of post-baccalaureate engineering work experience in an industrial production environment, which experience shall include the following
    •    5 years of experience with process control standards, automation, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) programming, Human to Machine Interface (HMI) systems, Supervisory Controls and Data Acquisition systems (SCADA) development, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) design, and process layout
    •    3 years of experience with PLC programming with IEC 61131 languages (e.g., Continuous Function Chart (CFC), Sequential Function Chart (SFC), Function Block Programming, Structure Control Language (SCL), across various platforms (e.g., Siemens, Phoenix Contact)
    •    1 year of experience with arrangement drawings, networks, and communications diagrams, wiring diagrams, bill of materials using AutoCAD, Microsoft Visio, and Mechanical Desktop
    •    5 years of experience with design requirements for network, power, control, and instrumentation
    •    2 years of experience with automation of manufacturing plants
    •    1 year of experience with development of I&C design deliverables including data sheets, control narratives, P&IDs, control schema, shutdown key, signal exchange systems, network architecture diagrams, and control panel design
    •    3 years of experience with development of control system software using various controllers (e.g., Logo!, S7-1200, S7-1500, S7-400, Webserver, Panel, and SCADA by Siemens, ILC, AXC)
    •    1 year of experience of onsite commissioning, testing, and transferring to operations
    •    1 year of experience with Siemens PCS7/Step 7
    •    5% domestic travel required
