Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, your duties and responsibilities will include;

• Process full-cycle, weekly & bi-weekly payroll for approximately 400 union and non-union employees in Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia
• Manage and secure weekly payments including garnishments, benefits, and taxes in accordance with provincial regulations
• Produce and review pre and post payroll audit reports to ensure the accuracy of the payroll data
• Act as the subject matter expert for payroll for Workday
• Partner with the US payroll team to ensure consistency in the company payroll procedures, recommending changes for leading to best-practice operations and consistency with Canadian regulations
• Resolving payroll audit errors and keeping up to date with changing payroll legislation, province to province, to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Identify and implement process and quality improvements
• Responsible for process documentation, including regular maintenance
• Issuing Records of Employment (ROE) and submitting to Service Canada as well as annual T4 preparation in accordance with regulations
• Processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, promotions, and terminations
• Support local HR resources with payroll inquiries and benefits management internal processes, including disability payment, and premium recovery
• Auditing of TD1, payroll balance sheets, and YTD earnings
• Ensuring systems are set-up and updated to reflect current employee base, including wages, benefits, sick and vacation time in line with contracts (union and non-union)
• Manage regular preparation of relevant management reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports

Qualifications
• Accounting or Human Resources Management degree or related field or relevant years of payroll experience
• 5+ years’ experience processing multi-provincial payroll in Canada
• Knowledge of provincial legislation regarding payroll for Quebec, Ontario, and British Columbia
• PCP or CPM designation is preferred
• Experience with Workday is an asset
• Bilingual proficiency in English and French, verbal and written is required
• High level of confidentiality, attention to detail, and customer service
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
