Responsibilities
Build and maintain relationships with billing teams, lawyers, and clients.
Ensure compliance with billing policies and procedures.
Oversee team schedules, monitor absences, and ensure coverage.
Manage direct reports: coaching, performance, hiring, and terminations.
Provide training and mentorship for billing analysts.
Hold monthly meetings to review team issues and escalate as needed.
Address performance issues with relevant parties.
Ensure timely time entry and follow up with lawyers/paralegals.
Prepare and review prebills, invoices, and ensure they are sent out as required.
Conduct billing and client records training for new hires.
Review WIP and follow up with team members for timely billing.
Prepare reports on time, billing, and receivables.
Collaborate with the Billing Director on billing procedures.
Lead or participate in assigned projects.
Conduct annual performance reviews for billing analysts.
Liaise with Finance and E-billing teams to resolve issues.
Work with the AR/Collections team on outstanding invoices.
Handle online status reports and budgets in e-billing systems.
Monitor clients with special fee arrangements and ensure compliance.
Escalate billing issues and ensure proper resolution.
Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
University degree in Business or Accounting, or equivalent experience.
At least 5 years of relevant experience, ideally in a professional services firm.
Proficiency in Excel and Word.
Experience with Aderant Expert or similar systems is an asset.
Supervisory experience is required.
