job description

We are seeking an experienced CAD Designer for a well established high tech manufacturing client of ours in the Vancouver area. This role supports development of mechanical and electrical concepts, design or updates of our clients consoles, racks, peripherals, and IBS systems.

Responsibilities:

-Development of 3D models and 2D drawings suitable for products and project lifecycles
-Interface with Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, ILS, and Systems Engineers for design development
-Level 1 check of drawings for accuracy and compliance with company standards and best practices
-Preparation of procedures and work instructions for manufacturing and installation
-Preparation, development and sustainment of CAD Operations standards, work instructions and operational procedures
-Mentoring of Intermediate and Junior CAD Designers
-Create conceptual drawings and renderings for Sales Proposals
-Follows workplace operating and environmental, health and safety procedures and guidelines


Qualifications:

-2- or 3-year college diploma or equivalent with technical training in 3D modeling
-5+ years of experience
-Competent with application of Solidworks modeling tools and AutoCAD
-Competent with Solidworks PDM
-Competent with change management tools such as PDXpert
-Competent with electrical and mechanical designs
-Extensive knowledge of ASME Y14 Engineering drawing practices
-Design for manufacturing, assembly, testing, installation, and sustainment
-Manufacturing processes for sheet metal, machined and welded parts.
-Familiarity with naval platform environment is an asset
