Responsibilities
As a IT Database Administrator, your duties will include but not be limited to:
Vet new DB server build requirements and review project docs to ensure design specifications meet application needs
Advise on client DB standards as required on projects (eg. Audit processes, database access, job configuration)
Setup DB traces for Performance Testing to capture various performance metrics
Support testing cycles (eg. Running scripts, database backup/restores)
Documentation updates, as required
Job Requirements
Work as part of a DBA team providing the project 24/7 support through rotating shifts.
Optimization of Database/VLDBs.
Knowledge of related tasks like DR switchover , converting to read/write mode without interrupting primary production database
Defines the content and structure of the database and advises users on efficient techniques for extracting data
Contribute to automation of installs
Establish and maintain database support tools. Monitors overall standards and procedures and ensures integration of systems through database design.
Maintains accurate and up‐to‐date database system documentation. Has awareness of available physical storage and initiates requests for new devices.
Proposes data standards for both software and physical protection.
Assists in data base reorganization/restructuring.
Creates new schema for the development of new software products. This work involves working with Application Development, the business line customer, and the project management team.
Informs systems and applications programming staff of any future database changes that might require program modification.
Assists in the change control process to implement changes.
Assure timely and accurate processing of assigned tasks.
Recommends an effective operational procedure in accordance with department goals and application guidelines, in order to effectively utilize the database system and remain within the security and integrity control limits.
Qualifications
Oracle DBA ( Deploy code / Setup DB traces for Performance Testing )
Vet new DB server build requirements
Create new databases (OCAC PDBs – CDBs
Strong experience and knowledge installing and building OCAC (DBs, OAS, ODI, Oracle19c upgrades/in place upgrades and Clustered RAC installs
Strong experience with AWR, ADDM reporting, SQL Tuning Advisor, SQL Trace & TKProf and optimization of Database/VLDBs.
Strong experience and knowledge with Clustered RAC, Active/Normal Data Guard, RMAN, Data Pump, SQL*loader and export/import
Updates to database schema (create, alter, or drop objects) details
Apply database permissions (add, modify or delete logins, grant/revoke permissions to DB objects)
Deploy code (stored procedures, SQL scripts)
