Category Specialist
Calgary, Alberta

A leader in energy industry in crude and natural gas transportation and gathering has an immediate need for a Category Specialist. This position will participate in the development and execution of sourcing initiatives related to IT. The current team supports IT services, software, hardware, utility, integration.

The position is located in Calgary in a mainly office environment.

Must Haves:

• IT experience within the Supply Chain
• Skilled in managing Change Orders, PL requisition, PL orders, etc.


• Support the SCM –IT into year-end assignments – renewals, change orders, POs, support as and when required
• The position is more of into the administration part but can get into strategic role depending on the candidate’s caliber
• Working with the relevant stakeholders to implement sourcing processes to ensure delivery of business plans and market sector/commodity strategies
• Developing sourcing strategies in alignment with applicable market sector / commodity strategies and specific business objectives
• Understanding business requirements for third party goods and services
• Developing and maintaining knowledge of relevant supply market places
• Engaging the business and provide guidance on PSCM process and risk management
• Managing supplier relationships, engagement and involvement
• Supporting the team with all chosen initiatives which includes development of scope, supplier selection, commercial negotiation, and contract execution
• Ensuring the PSCM common processes are implemented, used and continually improved


• Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma is ideal, but 7 to 10 years of relevant experience, ideally in an Oil and Gas industry will count more over education
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Effective analytical and interpersonal skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to respond to and anticipate information needs and present that information in a clear concise manner.
• Ability to work with low supervision and work effectively with others to achieve group results.
• Strong project management skills
• Ability to work in a team environment
