CHIEF INSPECTOR
Quebec
Contract

If you are Chief Inspector with the coordinating the inspection and construction of compressor stations and you are looking for your next exciting opportunity, we want to hear from you. Our Quebec based client is looking to fill several contract Chief Inspector positions and they may be waiting on your resume.

Chief Inspector duties and responsibilities:

• Coordinate the inspection and construction of projects and ensure conformance with the client’s specifications
• May be required to work on actual construction projects or may be involved in the development of a project
• Ensures that the projects proceed in accordance with the scope of work or contract requirements
• Be accountable to manage all project deliverables i.e. safety, quality, cost and schedule
• Reports directly to our client’s Project Manager or Construction General Manager and is the primary face of the QA group
• Ensure that the contractor is implementing their Site Specific Safety Plan
• Oversee the inspection staff to ensure compliance e
• Work with the contractor to ensure that stakeholder and local community commitments are implemented
• Control our client and third parties to ensure that they comply with the Contractor’s Site Specific Safety Plan
• Create and foster a positive work environment and a proactive/mature safety culture with the inspection staff
• Monitor and evaluate the capability of inspection staff and appropriately address performance
• Achieve the successful execution of the project and all desired outcomes/deliverables
• Monitor construction and as required influence corrective action with the Contractor or inspection staff
• Implementation of our clients Capital Projects Management System/Project Delivery Standard requirements
• Address construction non-conformance issues
• Provide Leadership, expertise and guidance to the inspection staff
• Participate in the ongoing constructability input into project design
• Records management associated with construction documentation
• Enable the Project Manager to acquire the high pressure piping system(s) Leave to Open and successful turn-over to Operations
• Ensure design deviations are properly red lined and drawings are sent to the Project Manager for as-building
• Identify innovation and value creation opportunities related to construction
• Participation in lessons learned, close-out meeting(s) and inspection staff performance evaluations
• Verify that the Contractors Quality Program is being followed.
• Conduct site safety and quality walk downs and note any discrepancies
• Interface with the contractor’s personnel to ensure that the codes, standards and design are being adhered to
• Prepare and issue NCRs
• Review shop work
• Prepare the daily reports

Chief Inspector Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred and/or Technical Diploma or trade certification in a related field
• Five (5) plus years of demonstrated experience as a Chief Inspector and has a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in field inspection and construction
• API 1169 Pipeline Inspector Certification; NACE CIP Level 1 and 2 is considered a definite asset
• WHMIS/TDG
• Valid First Aid / CPR
• Valid Defensive Driving
• Contractor Safety Orientation
• Ground Disturbance Level II
• Bilingual (English / French)
• Possesses a strong background in the oil, gas and/or petrochemical industries
• Possesses a strong background in construction contract progress scheduling, assessment, and invoicing
• Possesses a strong background in construction claims resolution and negotiating
• Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication (oral, written, listening) skills
• A strong team player with the ability to work independently when required
• Possesses a strong background in management related loss prevention programs
• Strong computer skills - working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - i.e.: Word, Excel, Power Point
• A strong background in company design and construction execution methods
• Be familiar with government agencies, public safety and environmental concerns related to the oil and gas pipeline and facilities construction industry, and power generation, wind and solar energy industries
• A strong background in excavation methods in proximity to hot buried facilities would be considered an asset.
• Promote and demonstrate positive safety behaviour and leadership in safety
• Promote a culture that demonstrates positive quality behaviour and leadership in quality
• Lead and advocate for our client’s health, safety, quality and environmental culture and expectations
