Responsibilities
What you will be doing as a CNC Machinist Lead?
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and sketches to plan, create, and optimize CNC programs using Autodesk Fusion software
- Calculate imperial and metric conversions required for programming
- Regular review of production schedules, machine availability, and customer deadlines
- Determine and execute appropriate work holding methods, select, setup and load tools
- Assist with locating and handling of raw materials, including mild steel, stainless steel, tool steel and aluminum materials
- Put machinery through test runs prior to full implementation, to ensure programming is working effectively
- Operate mills, lathes, and multi-axis machines and use offsets
- Assist with inspections and testing as defined to ensure quality specifications/standards are met
- Troubleshoot machining and quality issues
- General manufacturing support duties as assigned; including maintenance
Qualifications
What YOU bring to the role of CNC Machinist Lead:
- Post-secondary education in CNC Programming
- 5 years of experience in programming/setup/operation of mills, lathes, multi-axis machines; with proven expertise using Autodesk Fusion 360
- Manual mill experience is an asset
- Strong command of machining processes, theory, and tooling
- Advanced ability to read and understand engineering blueprints, drawings, and sketches
- Understanding of Mazatrol and Haas controls
- Self-starter, self-regulated; ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload
- Ability to problem-solve in a collaborative environment
- High level of attention to detail & accuracy
- Excellent computer skills
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis
