Reporting to the General Manager, the Construction Manager is responsible for contributing to the overall profitability of the company by directing, contract management and completion of all construction projects.

Responsibilities
•Responsible for reporting, scheduling and supervising of construction work (including winter work), staff and resources. Responsible for both short- and long-term planning.
•Conduct pre-construction meetings with Estimators and Supervisors assigned to projects to review scope, production expectations, schedules, milestone dates, sub-contractors, suppliers and cost codes setup.
•Review progress payment, purchase orders, change orders, and charge backs for all projects and discuss and resolve any discrepancies with supervisors.
•Control production costs, review computer costs, oversee and maintain quality control and take corrective measures. Responsible for quality control as it pertains to workmanship issues on projects.
•Assist in the annual business plan, sales, operating and capital budgets and objectives for the road construction business unit.
•Verify, approve, and code all sub-trade, supplier and vendor invoices as they apply to projects.
•Assist the team by attaining budget targets for volume and profitability, through timely delivery of projects and cost objectives for construction.
•Professionally represent the company on internal and external communication including employees and sub-contractors, vendors and suppliers.
•Ensure compliance with all relevant labour laws regulations, and the company’s corporate policies.
•Work with direct reports to establish and implement methods to improve productivity, quality, and service and provide complete customer satisfaction for construction.
•Assist in the market share targets and volume and price objectives for construction.
•Interacts with the equipment shop for servicing and repairing of equipment.
•Enforce budgetary controls on all field expenses.
•Maintain and enforce policies and safety programs, review insurance claims, and liability damages. Liaise with appropriate government agencies as required.
•Manage the department personnel and appraise and evaluate their performance and potential, based on obtained results. Continuously coach and mentor employees, while taking disciplinary action when necessary.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
•Ontario Professional Engineer designation
•At least five years construction related experience with an emphasis on road construction.
•Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
•Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
