Job Overview
The Controls Design engineer will support the day-to-day business of the engineering department and must have a passion for problem-solving, automation, controls, PLC and mobile controls programming, HMI creation and Electrification of mobile machines. Under the Engineering Manager's supervision, the Controls Designer will be responsible for designing full and partial electrical systems for mobile equipment and systems, in most cases interfacing with customized hydraulic solutions, creating electrical schematics, and component selections with the suppliers to meet the performance and cost targets. The designer will also be responsible for managing and supporting prototype builds, programming and field testing, and developing and maintaining work instructions and documentation for mobile control systems.

Responsibilities
Key Job Responsibilities
•Develop project scope, component selection, cost estimation and electrical/controls design for assigned projects
•Design and create full and partial control solutions, electrical schematics, harnesses, and drawings for mobile equipment, in many cases for packaging with our hydraulic solutions
•Program, test and document logic and interfaces required for control solutions
•Create and execute testing and validation plans for new product development and production
•Optimize electrical component selection in order to achieve the cost target and machine performance, including working with suppliers, customers and manufacturing to provide the specifications for production launch
•Design display and control panels for mobile machinery
•Supporting OEM customer business
•Support the service department in resolving field issues
•Support Production with build issues and troubleshooting
•Travel as required to customer and supplier sites to perform installation, commissioning, and training duties (North America & Europe) (Maximum 5% of travel)
Qualifications
Qualifications/Requirements
•Electrical Engineering degree or Electrical Technologist diploma with applicable experience
•3 to 5 years of experience with mobile equipment electrical design
•Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD
•Experience with programming, CoDeSyS 2.3, 3.5
•Experience with design and troubleshooting CANbus networks
•Familiar with ISO, ANSI, CSA and other country-specific electrical safety regulations as required
•Familiar with ERP systems
•Familiar with Hydraulic systems and schematics
•Knowledge of Hawe and mobile Hydraulic products would be a strong asset
