Are you a CPA with experience in the manufacturing and distribution industries? Do you have experience managing the finance function for a business unit? Are you interested in a leadership role primed for future growth? If so, this may be the opportunity for you!

My client is rapidly growing in the Canadian market and in need of a Corporate Controller. The role will be reporting to the Director of Finance and the President, your duties and responsibilities will include the following:

Responsibilities
• Manage all accounting and financial reporting activities for three-plus business units (including but not limited to general accounting records and GL maintenance, fixed assets, intercompany reconciliations, inventory accounting) in compliance with company policies and procedures
• Responsible for the timely completion of accurate financial statements and supporting materials on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
• Manage accounting teams at multiple facilities and perform accounting functions when staff is not there
• Consolidate all Canadian Business Units and report to US Holding company
• Support the implementation of an ERP system for a new warehouse system including Accounting modules as well as WMS modules – pick paths, automation etc.
• Ensure all purchases made in US dollars are properly recorded – ensuring the inventory is valued with respect to foreign currency purchases
• Proactively prepare analysis of operational and financial results for the business unit
• Produce management reports and analysis for Operations and Senior Management focusing on key financial and operational metrics of the business
• Coordinate the preparation of the Annual Budget and the monthly cycle forecasts as a part of a multi-disciplined team within the business unit, including the plant manager and management team
• Collaborate and liaise with plant operations personnel to ensure standard costs are maintained and updated according to company policy
• Continuously assess business and departmental processes, and make changes to improve efficiency and productivity
• Liaise with external auditors
• Ensure compliance with tax requirements
• Undertake other tasks/special projects as assigned by the Director of Finance

Qualifications
• CPA Designated (CA, CMA, CPA or CGA)
• Minimum of 5 years of previous accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a managerial or leadership role
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis including key trends analysis and business case analysis
• Experienced business partner with the ability to make recommendations on key financial and operating decisions
• Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and concepts (IFRS, US GAAP, SOX)
• Experienced with ERP systems and supporting implementations (Streamline)
• Bilingual - English / French would be a plus
