Responsibilities
Cost Analysis & Management: Develop and manage detailed cost models for products, incorporating direct materials, labor, and overhead. Analyze production costs and variances to identify cost-saving opportunities and drive operational efficiencies. Monitor and report on cost performance against budgets and forecasts, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prepare cost estimates for new products, projects, and process changes. Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, ensuring accuracy and alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.
Cost Reporting: Generate comprehensive cost reports, including profitability analyses and cost breakdowns, for senior management. Implement reporting systems to track cost trends and deviations, offering actionable insights to enhance financial performance.
Process Improvement: Identify and implement cost-effective solutions and process improvements. Partner with manufacturing and operations teams to address cost drivers and inefficiencies, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Inventory Management: Oversee the costing of inventory, ensuring accurate valuation and reporting for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods. Coordinate with the inventory control team to reconcile physical inventory with cost records.
Compliance & Controls: Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting standards, and financial regulations. Update and maintain costing policies and procedures to align with best practices and regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of cost analysts, fostering a collaborative environment and promoting their professional development. Provide guidance and support to ensure high performance and effective cost management.
Qualifications
Bachelors in accounting or finance
CPA ( an asset )
3-5 years of experience as a manager
Bilingual
Strong Excel skill
Experience with an ERP ( JD Edwards, GP, etc..)
