Job location: Langley, BC

Job title: Design Technician

Providing a safe and healthy environment and leading a team that thrives on hunger for more work. The design technician will be assisting in all building projects, determining requirements, and working with the engineers and managers to create designs, and implement strategies to encourage continuous improvement and building value through product development.

Responsibilities and duties

- Provide exceptional customer service by anticipating customer needs and providing assistance and encouraging proactive engagement.
- Drive efforts to increase market shares and cultivate opportunities for greater profits through the utilization of the organizations assets.
- Develop a strong understanding of the organizations sales and marketing program.
- Ensuring safety of structures by commanding local and national building codes and enforcing regulations, structural engineering, performing structural analysis, and communicate and enforce adherence.
- Provide expertise to the application, building components, and connections of roof and floor systems, and tall walls.
- Provide advanced structural designing services all of the organizations projects and structures.
- Expedite and oversee any repairs or corrections as noted, implement actions for corrective procedures, and ensure records are up to date.
- Highly qualified in leading and directing efforts of a skilled team and providing technical and software expertise in developing quality control procedures, and placement plans while instructing and training staff.
- Preparing design plans, technical drawings, blueprints, and quotes for all projects.
- Assisting on specific projects by interpreting blueprints, and identifying structural design needs and customer requirements.
- Participating in the check process by reviewing other designers work and submit work to be reviewed to enhance effectiveness, and avoid possible design errors prior to submissions to the manufacturer.
- Act as a point of contact and providing clarification both internally and externally on technical aspects.
- Collaborate with senior members and managers of the team when a more in-depth analysis is required.
- Encouraging a safe work environment by understanding, following, and implementing all safety procedure and practices to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attend safety meetings, and recommend changes for continuous improvement.

Skills and Abilities

- Must possess advanced and superior skills in MS Office, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Extensive knowledge and expertise in Computer Software required, and experience with Oneir, ZyTrac, Mitek and Keyman.
- Strong problem solving skills with an in depth knowledge and ability to read, interpret and design structural, architectural and mechanical blueprints, along with, identifying errors or omissions, and resolving incomplete or ambiguous project requirements.
