Responsibilities
Develop and maintain part and assembly drawings with review and input from
engineering and production
Develop and maintain machine layout drawings with review and input from engineering,
external customers and project managers
Issue fabrication drawings to manufacturing floor
Maintain drawings using revision control systems
Create and maintain bills of materials and routings
Assisting with manufacturing time studies and cost analysis
Assisting in the creation and maintenance of documentation packages
Occasionally supporting internal and external customers via phone
Provide feedback to design engineers on customer problems and needs
Complete assigned projects on time
Modifying electrical design based on customer requirements
Designing/modifying electrical panel assemblies
Creating electrical and mechanical prints
To participate co-operatively as an employee within the company Performance Appraisal
Process and Merit Rating System.
To actively participate in company, staff or individual one-on-one meetings on an
ongoing basis for the purposes of effective teamwork, enhanced communication and
progressive co-operation strategies within the department as well as other departments
across the company.
To continually contribute to the profitability of the company and ongoing business
operations by initiating, recommending and implementing continuous improvement
strategies and initiatives.
To fully abide and actively support the company’s Environmental Health & Safety
policies, practices and procedures with respect to protecting the environment, the
conservation of nature resources and the Health & Safety of all employees.
To conduct any general duties, specific projects and responsibilities as assigned or
required by the Engineering Manager in a timely and professional manner.
Qualifications
College diploma in computer aided design technology, mechanical engineering
technician/technologist or similar
SolidWorks experience or formal training is required
AutoCAD experience is an asset, but not required
Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite
Experience with ASME Y14.5 and general GD&T practices is an asset, but not required
Knowledge of fabrication processes such as CNC cutting, bending, welding and machining
an asset but not required
Ability to work independently and in a team on various projects, producing detailed part
and assembly drawings
Understanding of dimensioning and shop fabrication practices
Demonstrate thoroughness of details and review of work
Strong organization and motivation skills
2 years of related drafting experience
