Responsibilities
Primary Role:
As the E-Coat Manager reporting to the Operations Manager, this role entails overseeing all chemical-related processes, ensuring they operate within specified parameters, and maintaining accurate records. Additionally, it involves leading a team responsible for safety, environmental compliance, quality, production, customer service, and housekeeping. The E-Coat Manager collaborates closely with production and quality teams on PPAP, APQP, and testing requirements for new launches.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure a safe work environment and efficient work practices for all employees, providing guidance on equipment operation and chemical handling safety.
Contribute to quoting activities, including generating documented quotes when the Operations Manager is absent.
Develop, implement, and maintain chemical and environmental policies and procedures.
Manage the development and maintenance of e-coat tooling.
Set performance targets and indicators for the coatings department.
Lead and supervise coatings personnel.
Establish and maintain preventative and predictive maintenance plans for the e-coat and wastewater treatment systems.
Create skill assessments, implement employee development and training plans, and conduct performance evaluations.
Monitor departmental results, costs, and product quality.
Coordinate system maintenance schedules in alignment with customer, health and safety, and environmental requirements.
Collaborate with production superintendents/supervisors to optimize resource utilization.
Ensure compliance with Employment and Health & Safety Legislation, the Collective Agreement, and company policies.
Attend meetings with Plant Management to address environmental compliance, customer concerns, production needs, health and safety, new launches, and maintenance.
Provide leadership in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing processes, including coaching, innovation, and commitment to safety.
Maintain chemical and supplies inventories and order replacement materials as needed.
Conduct workplace inspections, layered audits, and review reports for accuracy and completeness.
Schedule maintenance resources to ensure uninterrupted Waste Water Treatment and E-coat processes, as well as other production needs.
Facilitate information sessions, incident investigations, and employee training.
Address substandard practices or conditions promptly.
Perform employee safety observations and acknowledge exemplary health and safety performance.
Arrange coverage for Solutions Maintenance Technicians and Waste Water Technicians during off-hours.
Ensure compliance with Sections 27 and 28 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
Qualifications
Qualifications:
A post-secondary education or equivalent experience, along with ideally 5 or more years of progressively advancing management skills in a manufacturing-related setting, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing, maintenance operations, and associated processes, including production equipment, paint, and plating shop operations.
Proficiency in handling customer shipping requirements, inventory control, production scheduling, engineering systems, and procedures, as well as knowledge of plant raw materials.
Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and communication abilities, complemented by strong project management skills to effectively oversee and coordinate internal and external project resources.
Proficiency in Microsoft and other software relevant to manufacturing.
An understanding of Health & Safety legislation and experience in the administration of collective agreements would be considered advantageous.
