Responsibilities
- Manage the maintenance and engineering department, ensuring accountability for departmental safety, environmental controls, and the development of maintenance and engineering teams.
- Oversee equipment condition, technical reliability, and departmental cost controls including budgeting and capital investment programs.
- Collaborate with other departments to develop strategies aligned with Plant and Corporate objectives, focusing on safety, productivity, cost efficiency, quality, customer service, and team development.
- Ensure continuous improvement in process plant and infrastructure safety and environmental impact reduction.
- Support energy conservation efforts through improved equipment performance.
- Lead and develop the engineering team in alignment with the WCM (World Class Manufacturing) program.
- Implement a structured WCM approach to maintenance, maximizing plant reliability enhancement opportunities.
- Own plant reliability KPIs, analyze downtime, and propose improvement initiatives.
- Lead PM (Professional Maintenance) and EEM (Early Equipment Management) Pillars with active involvement in AM (Autonomous Maintenance) Pillars.
- Support other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure engineering teams conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and other required evaluations to established standards and timelines.
- Manage maintenance and capital budgets effectively.
- Develop and oversee capital projects for the site, coordinating with local and central engineering teams to ensure timely and within-budget completion.
- Create and submit capital expenditure proposals as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related fields,
- Unionized manufacturing environment experience an asset
- 10 + years of experience in manufacturing maintenance leadership.
- Strong team-building skills with a demonstrated ability to lead and motivate personnel at all levels.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Solid understanding of business and engineering principles relevant to manufacturing.
- Proficiency in analyzing financial issues, costs, and budgets.
- Experience in driving sustainable cultural change.
- Self-motivated with the ability to set and achieve strategic goals.
