Responsibilities
•Gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
•Identifies labour, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
•Obtain material pricing and organize all the information necessary to create and submit proposals to clients
•Use ERP, detailed spreadsheets and company-approved formulas to calculate the projected costs of proposed projects
•Document total materials needed, including details regarding all codes, brands, and contact information necessary to process orders
•Computes costs by analyzing labour, material, and time requirements.
•Present prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information
•Prepares special reports as required by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
•Use ERP system to maintain cost database
•Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
•Solicit and review subcontractor proposals and help with contract negotiations
•Work with various involved parties, such as designers, architects, owners, reps, and general contractors
•Site visits when required
Qualifications
•3+ years in custom fabrication and machine building
•3+ years in quoting and estimating
•Good command of the English language
•Post-secondary education in mechanical/ engineering studies required
•Understand labour hours required in custom fabrication
•Good knowledge of welding, machining, sheet metal fabrication, polishing and other related trades
•Experience in reading tenders and writing contracts
•Experience with Solidworks preferred
•Shop experience in custom fabrication
