We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer for a well-established client of ours in the Victoria area.

The incumbent will play a key role in automating a complex semiconductor growth and device fabrication process to improve production efficiencies and product quality. The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design and process automation and a desire to spend time on the production floor learning current processes.


-Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements and equipment layout
-Define specifications for new equipment and adaptations
-Source and purchase new equipment, components, processes, systems, etc for improved efficiencies in production and the operation of the facilities
-Define system requirements for new equipment and processes and/or modifications to existing equipment;
-Schedule, install and commission equipment and processes following verification/validation procedures;
-Design and/or select fixtures & tooling to meet R&D and manufacturing requirements
-Provide follow-up of design and development projects by training and guiding technicians
-Take on project management tasks as required
-Establish maintenance and repair services for new equipment and processes; follow manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures; requesting special service as required
-Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends;
-Establish, justify and maintain project budgets
-Provide technical support for plant layouts, facility improvements, purchase of equipment, upgrade of equipment, feasibility studies.


-Five or more year experience in process automation in semiconductor or material processing, Semiconductor fabrication, Semiconductor packaging and test or a high volume manufacturing plant
-Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent
-Experience with Solid Works or Equivalent 3D modeling program is a must have
-Experience with AutoCAD (or other CAD system) is an asset
-Must possess excellent oral and written communications skills
-Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to work in a team environment
-Must have excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills
-A demonstrated ability to be innovative
-Proven track record of delivering projects on time and on budget
-Familiarity with 6 Sigma, Kanban, Lean Mfg is an asset
-A solid understanding of manufacturing processes
