Responsibilities
-Manage capital, facility, and equipment projects from concept through to commissioning
-Define specifications for new equipment and adaptations
-Define system requirements for new utility services, equipment and processes and/or modifications to existing
-Prepare Engineering and Construction Work Packages
-Source and purchase new equipment, components, processes, systems, etc for improved efficiencies in production and the operation of the facilities
-Schedule, install and commission equipment and processes following verification/validation procedures
-Manage contractors and support staff during installation and commissioning
-Liaise with consultant professionals – engineers, architects, etc
-Provide follow-up of design and development projects by training and guiding technicians
-Establish, justify and maintain project budgets
-Establish maintenance and repair services for new equipment and processes; follow manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures; requesting special service as required
-Conduct process designs, reviews, modifications inc. Hazard Risk Assessments for facilities and internal customers
-Write procedures and standards
-Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements and equipment layout
-Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends
-Provide technical support for plant layouts, facility improvements, purchase of equipment, upgrade of equipment, feasibility studies
Qualifications
-Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent
-Ability to register with EGBC (EIT, P.Eng.)
-Must have excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills
-A demonstrated ability to be innovative
-Proven track record of delivering projects on time and on budget
-Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing (5S, Kanban, 6 Sigma, etc) is an asset
-A solid understanding of manufacturing processes and/or construction processes
Five or more years experience in one of the following industries:
-Semiconductor manufacturing (processing, fabrication, assembly/packaging)
-Chemical/Process/Industrial Gas
-material processing
-high volume manufacturing, or
-Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment
