Field Drilling Engineer - 14/14 rotation from AB - Ongoing contract
We are urgently seeking applicants for a Field Drilling Engineer role with one of our fortune 500 Oil and Gas clients.

There will be a 14/14 rotation to site location in KD area
If successful, you will be paid weekly upon approval of completed timesheets.
Field Drilling Engineer will report to the Drilling Superintendent and provide technical engineering support and calculations at the wellsite, i.e.: cement volumes, hydraulic HP, annular velocities, kick tolerances, torque and drag etc.
Review and assist with the execution of drilling operations programs.
Actively participates in the morning operations calls and capable of covering holidays/training for short period of time for the wellsite supervisor.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
•Provide technical engineering support and calculations at the wellsite, i.e.: cement volumes, hydraulic HP, annular velocities, kick tolerances, torque and drag etc.
•Review and assist with the execution of drilling operations programs. Actively participates in the morning operations calls
•Works in conjunction with the DSR and superintendent in the manufacturing, discussion and approval of the POA’s and operations forecasts
•Actively participates on QA/QC process with the business partners on site for the measurement and caliper of all tools and equipment to be run in hole
•Monitor and communicate drilling progress and provides cost and time curves
•Participate in operations risk assessments, POA development, hole section reviews and end of well lookbacks and capture lessons learned
•Lead field generated RUMS and MOC’s and captures these exercises using the DCKA and MOC preparation tools. Is responsible for closing these out once execution is completed and captures lessons learned accordingly
•Supports DSR’s with equipment tracking via Material Request Forms and material transfers.
Assist DSR's as needed for invoice processing compliance
•Assist in executing drills, HES Assurance Plan and emergency response execution on drilling location
•Performs quality checks as required and submits daily drilling activity reports and associated WellView reports. Rig DSR’s remains accountable for WellView drilling reports preparation and accuracy but the engineer shall provide support as needed
•Responsible for cement and casing QA/QC prior to operations execution
•Review offset well history and bit records to recommend optimization actions to the DSR’s, works closely with Operations Engineers to confirm analysis and data interpretations
•Maintains bit records and photos at rig for use in drilling optimization initiatives
•Maintain data (including photos) for any failed or malfunctioning tools or equipment on site
•Follow the WELLS filing structure for maintaining key documents
•If required, participates in RCA’s according to CBU IIR process
•Witness, support, and document key operations, i.e.: cementing, pressuring testing
•Works closely with rig provider and validates preventive maintenance programs are implemented and effective
•Keep all records related to WellSafe to ensure Rig Certification compliance and record drills in DrillPad
•Responsible for tracking accuracy of fuel consumption utilization volumes, mud products and solids control equipment consumables inventory
Qualifications:
•Minimum diploma from SAIT/NAIT in petroleum Engineering or equivalent.
•Has the certification to work on wellsite (2nd line well control, H2S alive and first aid)
•Excellent computer skills
•Able to work in a team environment and excellent written and oral communication skills.
•5+ years of relevant industry experience within the Oil and Gas industry, preferable for an exploration & production company.
•Proven experience in the practice of D&C project management and performance processes (focus on performance improvement, risk management, category management).
•Intermediate skills in horizontal well design, planning, and operations.
•Intermediate understanding of wellbore stability and its impact on casing design.
•Experienced and capable of utilizing various drilling software applications for well design and analysis.
•Capable of utilizing Risk & Uncertainty Management & Management of Change standards in well design & execution through multi-disciplined teams.
•Consistently demonstrates leadership through frequent engagements at the well-site.
•Experience with major capital projects and leading project management principles preferred.
•Ability to effectively organize and execute tasks for multiple stakeholders, with at times overlapping and conflicting timelines.
•Holds a strong drive, inspires commitment and trust, articulates a clear vision of success, developing and improving performance and resources across fields and disciplines to achieve goals.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have ability to work with all levels of the organization and outside the company such as contractors and partners.
•Proven ability to analyze and understand complex situations quickly and develop practical, appropriate solutions to resolve high impact people/business/process issues. Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing work priorities and deliver high quality, accurate work with multiple deadlines.
•Demonstrated ability to work productively in a team environment, both supporting other team members and contributing to the effectiveness and reliability of the team.
•Candidate must be willing and able to travel to field operation sites; this position is a rotational 14 / 14 schedule.
•Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
